Christmas has come early this year as we took delivery of a an assortment of well loved market garden equipment from organic farm legend, Reg the Veg.
For the uninitiated Reg the Veg, as he is affectionately known by Natimuk (Victoria) locals, has been farming with his wife since the 1970s. He began growing organic vegetables and fruits and milking dairy cows. When they first took over their property they had just 12 trees, since then has they have gone on to have more than 12,000 trees today.
When the opportunity arose in August to rehome some of Reg's market garden equipment, Farmer Mick jumped at the chance. Reg and Hazel wanted to see their equipment go to a good home and see it put to good use to benefit a new community.
This is old equipment made from quality steel and despite looking like it has all seen better days, all the tools still have plenty of life in them. This will help us immensely with composting, weeding and harvesting without damaging soil or the veggies.
Mick is most excited about the potato harvester which with give us the ability to grow more potatoes - Farmer Mick's favourite veg to eat and grow
We couldn't be more excited about what 2022 has to bring, adding new varieties of certified organic produce to the farm and the ability to grow more for our community.
