The cooler weather is just around the corner, which means produce will be available from different growing regions both locally and interstate. More specifically, we're shifting into local peak season for produce especially the Lockyer Valley and South East QLD.
What does that mean for the fruit & veg you'll be enjoying from boxes and markets?? Let's check it out!
🍊 Fruit 🍐
It's time for a few endings and a whole heap of tasty beginnings! As this month progresses, we’ll likely see the end of grapes, plums and summer fruits. Watermelon is well and truly finished up for the season too.
There is still a heap of local spray free lemons and limes available, plus bananas and beautiful pears are in abundance as well.
We have a great supply of Queensland avocados, and are loving this seasons' crisp apples.
Perhaps the most exciting news in fruit is the start of local citrus season which should kick off later this month! This means the BEST mandarins, local oranges and more from our friends out at Gayndah. Stay tuned for more details on that.
🥦 Veggies 🥕
Ch-ch-ch-changes!!
The summer veg is slowing down. That means veggies like eggplant, corn, capsicum, beans and cucumber will be less abundant over the coming weeks.
We'll start to see more abundance of brassicas including broccoli, cauliflower, celery and cabbage. These are typically winter veggies, so they should get better and better over the coming months.
Additionally, leafy greens should start to become more plentiful as the weather cools off too. This includes favourites such as silverbeet, choi, kale, baby spinach, rocket, cos lettuce and mixed salad.
We've got a heap of beautiful potatoes, sweet potatoes, and pumpkins coming your way!
The carrots are having a great season, both the usual orange as well as the fancy yellow and purple varieties.
We also hope to start seeing Noosa Reds come online later this month with their local supply of spray free tomatoes. They are an absolute favourite around here, so once we've all got our fingers crossed they'll be here sooner rather than later!
As always, if you have any questions about seasonal availability simply shoot us a message or ask our team at market 😃
