Summer in Queensland is absolutely glorious! 🌦️
A heap of sun, a bit of rain, and a whole lot of heat means that summer crops are booming and on their way to your table 🍽️
🍎 Fruit
The summer fruit is going strong but its season will be wrapping up shortly. Here's what we're loving right now!
We still have some beautiful stone fruit available. Peaches, nectarines and plums are juicy and delicious, but heads up that they will be gone within a few weeks.
We've got lovely local mangoes available. This season we've been able to stock a variety of mangoes such as R2E2, Kensington Pride as well as Palmer Red mangoes which continue to be beautiful!
Watermelons and grapes have been abundant and juicy this summer. Grapes are at the end of the season, so get in quick before they're gone for another year. It's been a great crop of watermelons this year so we are hopeful they'll be around for a while still!
🥦 Veggies
Summer loving veggies like zucchini, capsicum, eggplant and cucumber are well and truly coming into their own now! These veggies thrive on the hot and moderately wet summer we've been having, so over the next few weeks be sure to keep an eye out as price point and availability should start to reflect this.
Though supply of brassicas is still short this time of year, there has been some beautiful broccoli and baby broccoli around lately, and we're starting to see the emergence of some lovely cabbages and cauliflowers again too.
We've been having an abundance of salad greens and herbs coming from our sister farm down in Victoria which have been gorgeous! As these delicate leafy greens don't often love the Queensland heat, we'll be sourcing them from down south until things are sufficiently cool and the local greens start thriving again.
After a bit of a shortage of sweet potatoes due to some weather events, they are coming back and will be available in abundance over the next few weeks along with your other favourites such as potatoes, beetroot and carrots.
