What a weekend it has been and to say we are still pinching ourselves is an understatement! This year saw Good Harvest as finalists for several awards over two separate industry awards nights - coincidentally held on the same weekend!

Farmer of the Year - Mick Dan
Retailer of the Year - Good Harvest
The awards were announced at a Virtual ceremony on Friday evening and the winner of the coveted "Farmer of the Year" award was our very own, Good Harvest Organic Farm Founder and Farmer, Mick Dan!
Can you believe it! Across the entire country, with so many inspiring organic farms and farmers, Mick has been named 2021 Farmer of the Year!
Mick works tirelessly on the farm and business yet was humble in his win.
“I am honoured to be recognised by my peers in such an collaborative industry, however this Award win would not be possible without the support of my partner Kelly, daughter Alex, and our team of employees including Farm Manager Brendan, Warehouse Manager Neale and Marketing Manager Mish. Our entire team at Good Harvest Organic Farm are proud to work in a value-based industry and provide healthy organic produce for their community.
We also want to thank our Good Harvest customers and community for supporting us through the good times and the tough times - it truly is what inspires us to keep going and growing! There are families that have been on this journey with us for over 5 years now and so many new families joining us and seeking a deeper connection to their food source. We are so grateful to be trusted by so many to feed their families."
We would also like to extend our congratulations to other category winners and finalists. It was truly an outstanding experience to be part of and we look forward to an in person awards celebration in 2022.

And the Winner of the Food & Agribusiness Category - Large Employer is:.....
Good Harvest Organic Farm!
"We couldn't believe it when we heard our name announced!" said Kelly Burton, Chief Operations Officer of Good Harvest Organic Farm. "It still feels like a dream!"
"We are so truly honoured to be recognised amongst such an inspiring list of businesses, not just in our category, but across the many categories awarded. The Sunshine Coast business community is so small and many of these finalists we have come to know well and support them on their endeavours, it is such a wonderful accolade to be named a finalists, let alone a winner".
"What's most important about these awards is recognising the people who have contributed to our success through the last 7 years: our team and our community. From humble beginnings in 2014, the community has stood by us and supported us in good times and bad. When our shop was destroyed by fire over 5 years ago, we could not have imagined how much of a positive influence this could have on our purpose and direction.
Mick has taken to farming with such vigour and passion, people can see that and feel it in the food he produces with the farm team. 2021 has been a tough year personally, we lost my Mum in May this year, and to be able to come to work every day knowing we are feeding over 1300 families a week is what has kept me going".
These awards give us such hope for the future where people are connected with local farmers, learning more about the importance of eating organic produce and the benefits this has on the environment and health of our community.

We also hope it will encourage other young farmers to get in there and give it a go! The organic farming community here on the Coast is so collaborative, and with the support of the Food & Agribusiness Network (who also won a business award this weekend), there is such a strong future for organic farming and food production on this beautiful Sunshine Coast.
