July Seasonal Update

Jul 12, 2024

Is anyone else enjoying this cooler weather?!

For most of the year here on the Sunshine Coast, we're lucky to have lots of warmth. However the crops love a bit of this colder weather too!

There are fewer weeds and bugs about, and everything seems to be growing and ripening beautifully. Here's what that means for produce this month 🌱

🍏 Fruit

All of our winter citrus is still going strong! We've still got a heap of mandarins, oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit in stock with blood oranges finally in the mix too!

Apples and Pears are beautiful this year and are more crisp than ever. Papaya and bananas are in good supply, and we're hoping to be able to get rhubarb for you if we can. It can be challenging to source, but is so worth the effort!

Local Avocados are in full swing and are tasty and creamy. A reminder that these arrive to us freshly picked and often take up to 10 days to ripen. We highly recommend you keep a few on hand so that you can rotate them through your fridge and ripen as needed. It's the best way to make sure you always have that perfect avocado when you want it!

🥦 Veggies

There are gorgeous broccoli, cauliflower and cabbages around at the moment! As these brassicas love the cooler weather, they are typically at their best in the winter.

We also have a heap of the best local certified organic tomatoes, baby broccoli, cucumber, green beans, sweet potato, and zucchini that we source from Beau Vista farms in Goomboorian just outside of Gympie.

It's the end of the season for garlic, and the growing region is in transition for both beetroot and leeks, so they may be limited for a short time but we'll do our best to keep them in full supply for you through the season.

Leafy greens are abundant including kale, silverbeet, cos lettuce, salad, choi, spinach and more. Lastly, we have lots of pumpkin, celery and beautiful carrots in stock too!
